Comtat de Besalú. Made a separate county in 878 when Wilfred the Hairy installed his brother Radulf; capital Besalú (Garrotxa). Under Bernard I Tallaferro (988–1020) it briefly gained its own bishopric (1017) and minted coin. The last count, Bernard III, married a daughter of Ramon Berenguer III of Barcelona; on his death without heirs in 1111, Besalú was inherited by the County of Barcelona.
